There are many design pillars for games. However, I want to talk about a common misconception for beginning game designers. New game designers often confuse skill and strategy and attempt to add as many mechanics as possible to raise the skill cap. Let's discuss the difference between skill and strategy and what mechanics might be appropriate for a game.
